Thanks in part to the donations from our generous sponsors, Juniper is able to award several scholarships to workshop applicants from our general applicant pool. (Please note that consideration for independent residency scholarship funding is reserved for Juniper alumni.)

Congrats to our scholarship recipients from past Institutes!

Scholarships Available

Writers of Native Nations Scholarship: (One scholarship available: covers Tuition, Housing, and Meals). This scholarship is open to writers of poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction. While the scholarship aims to lower financial barriers for those who want to participate in a workshop at the Juniper Summer Writing Institute, it will be awarded based on literary merit. All Native American and Indigenous writers are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to Native writers from the Northeast. This scholarship was originally established in collaboration with the UMass Native American and Indigenous Studies Program, a member of the Five Colleges consortium and NAIS certificate program.

Writers of Western Mass Scholarship: (One scholarship available: covers Tuition and Meals). This scholarship is open to writers of poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction who reside in Western Massachusetts.

Juniper Scholarships: (Five “Full” scholarships available: covers full Tuition, Housing, and Meals). To support a creative life for all, Juniper offers full tuition scholarships to individuals who have experienced socioeconomic disadvantages or discrimination, and/or who are citizens of underrepresented or marginalized groups. It is our hope that this helps cultivate a just, inclusive, equitable literary community. For Summer 2026, we will be offering five full tuition scholarships: one scholarship for a writer of color, one scholarship for a writer with a disability and/or chronic illness, one scholarship for a Palestinian writer, and two scholarships open to all writers.

Alumni Residency Scholarship: (One scholarship available: covers full residency tuition). One scholarship to cover the cost of tuition for an Independent Writing Resident who has previously taken a Workshop at Juniper. Any alumni of Juniper from 2004-2025 is eligible to apply for this funding.
