Typically, Juniper participants who choose to live on-campus will either stay in the North Apartments or at Hotel UMass. You can review each housing option below.
On-campus housing at the North Apartments
At the North Apartments, each suite has four single-occupancy bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a shared living room and kitchen, at a rate of $65.00 per night for a private room. Each lockable bedroom is furnished with a twin bed, desk, chair, and wardrobe. Every guest will be provided with a linen pack consisting of two flat sheets, a pillow case, two towels, and a thin blanket. (Note: we recommend bringing an extra blanket if you are someone who gets cold in air-conditioning). Coin-operated laundry facilities are available nearby. The kitchen has a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, and stove-top oven but does not come with cookware or silverware. The shared living room has a sofa, chairs, an end table, and a coffee table. Toiletries are not included, so guests should bring their own shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, and other essentials. Juniper will provide hand soap to all participants staying in on-campus housing. Those who stay in the North Apartments will be housed in a shared apartment with other Juniper Institute participants. If you have any specific suitemate or roommate requests, please be sure to indicate such on your registration.
This housing option is located in the North Residential Area of the UMass Amherst campus, about a 15-to-20-minute walk away from Juniper activities (0.7-0.8 miles). Please note: this inexpensive housing option is a very spare student dorm experience, rather than a hotel room experience — if you prefer a more upscale housing experience, please review the Hotel UMass option below.
Cancellation Policy: if you cancel your North Apartments lodging reservation before June 5, 2026, you will receive a refund less a one-night lodging cancellation fee of $60.00, plus any administrative fees. North Apartments lodging cancellations received after June 5, 2026, including cancellations made on-site or no-show reservations, will be ineligible for a refund.

On-Campus Housing at Hotel UMass
Located in the center of the UMass Amherst campus, directly above one of the Dining commons, Hotel UMass offers comfortable convenience for a discounted conference rate of $299.00/room/weeknight and $319.00/room/weekend night (plus applicable fees). Availability is limited and reservations at this discounted rate are only available until May 22, 2026 (availability permitting). To select Hotel UMass as your on-campus housing option, please indicate that you are interested in staying at Hotel UMass on your registration, and then click here to complete your booking online. (Note that selecting Hotel UMass on your registration will not reserve your room without also completing your online booking). Reservations are available online only; if you call to complete a reservation, you will be directed to book online.
Cancellation policy: Hotel UMass has a 48 hour cancellation policy, so you should cancel your reservation 48 hours prior to check-in to avoid being assessed any fees. Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to check-in will be charged for at least one night’s lodging, but additional fees may apply depending on the date and time of your cancellation.
