Many of our workshops offer participants detailed attention to their writing. However, for those interested in private feedback on a longer selection of writing (20 pages of poetry or 35 pages of prose), a limited number of one-on-one manuscript consultations are available for a fee of $400.
If you choose to request a consultation, a guest writer will read a selection of your work before the Institute begins, then meet with you during the Institute to discuss it.
Manuscript consultations are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Juniper will assign faculty based on availability. Participants can sign up for a manuscript consultation at the time of enrollment.
Once you enroll for a manuscript consult, Juniper staff will be in touch to request your manuscript in advance of the Institute. You should be prepared to send in your manuscript by May 15, 2026 for the 2026 Institute. This timeline allows us to make assignments and gives your consulting writer time to read and provide feedback on your work.
Manuscript consults are an hour long, and take place at a location off-campus or in Amherst, decided upon mutually by the participant and consulting writer. The consulting writer will additionally give you feedback either in the form of line edits and annotations or a feedback letter, depending on their preference.
